10 Halloween Ideas for 2020
Halloween is our favourite time of the year! But like so many other things, we will have to celebrate it a bit differently in 2020. So why not make the best of the situation and enjoy a super cosy spooky halloween at home. This year not only does Halloween fall on a Saturday, it will also be a full moon! We are so excited, (view our Moon obsession here) as it will be a rare Blue Moon, a second full moon in one calendar month. Create a super cosy halloween at home, or enjoy some safe outdoor activities, such as a Halloween trail or a spooky walk. Make this year special with our 10 Halloween ideas:
1. Make some Halloween Art
Get creative with some Halloween themed art. Halloween art projects can be fun for everyone, not just for kids. View our collection of autumn art ideas here or our Yayoi Kusama style pumpkin art project here. Head to our Instagram to see a video of how to paint the Kusama pumpkin. Easy and fun for all ages!
2. Decorate Your House
Go all out with your inside decorations this year! Have a look at A Beautiful Mess. They always do amazing Halloween decorations! We have some Halloween artwork available as digital downloads to print at home here.
3. Take a spooky walk at dusk
Take a walk at dusk. See how the light changes as the sun sets. Look our for autumnal details and take some moody Halloween pics.
4. Arty Pumpkin Carving or Painting
Take extra time to create a truly spectacular pumpkin this year. Think of it as a mini sculpture! You could try pumpkin painting for a different look. Try some modern colour combinations and think about adding some patterns. Gather pumpkins of all shapes and sizes and try a few different styles.
4. Bake Halloween Goodies
Bake lots halloween goodies to enjoy at home. Olive magazine have some fantastic Halloween baking ideas here.
5. Get the best Halloween sweets
Go on - treat yourself! Maybe splash out on some expensive chocolates or your favourite sweets.
6. Spooky Movie Night
A spooky Halloween-themed movie night is the perfect way to spend Halloween at home. Make it extra special with halloween snacks, popcorn, scented candles and spooky decorations.
7. Halloween Trail
Create a Halloween trail. This activity is perfect for the little ones. Hide some halloween treats around your garden, house or flat (like an Easter Egg Hunt). Dress up in fun Halloween outfits (if you want to), gather everyone together and go hunt for Halloween treats. Make up a scary story for your trail. Why are the sweets hidden this year? Who hid them?
8. Play Halloween Games
Try a classic halloween game such as Apple Bobbing, or maybe try mini pumpkin bowling. Use a marker pen to decorate satsumas as pumpkins and paper cups as ghosts. Stack the ‘ghost’ cups and see how many you can knock down with the ‘pumpkin’ satsuma.
9. Create a Halloween playlist
Make the perfect halloween playlist and have a Halloween-themed disco with your family, flatmates, or online with some friends.
10. Moon Gazing
Make the most of the Halloween full moon. Wrap up warm and head outside for a spot of Moon gazing. See if you can see the Moon Rabbit shape, the Lunar Maria, the Tycho or Copernicus craters. Use binocular to see some more details on the moon surface. If you need a little guidance head to Nasa’s Moon Page.
