Information on the Sabbats:
Yule:
Yule, a festival around the Winter Solstice, celebrates the return of light. Rooted in ancient Scandinavian and Germanic traditions, it marks the darkest day but heralds the sun's return.
Imbolc:
Imbolc, around 1st - 2nd February, marks the beginning of spring, balancing between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Also known as Imbolg, Saint Brigid's Day, and Candlemas, it's a Gaelic seasonal festival.
Ostara:
Ostara, symbolising spring's onset, witnesses nature in bloom and longer days as we enter the lighter half of the year.
Beltane:
Beltane, a Celtic May Day festival, marks the onset of spring and the beginning of summer, celebrated with bonfires and feasts.
Litha:
Litha, Midsummer, or the Summer Solstice, celebrates the longest day, marking the beginning of summer.
Lammas:
Lammas or Lughnasadh, celebrated on 1st August, marks the first harvest, focusing on offering the 'first fruits of harvest' and feasting.
Mabon:
Mabon, on the Autumn Equinox, is the second Harvest festival, a time of balance, equality, and thanksgiving.
Samhain:
Samhain, marking the end of the Harvest season, begins on the 31st October and ends on the 2nd of November. Some believe it's a time when the veil between this world and the 'Otherworld' is thinner, allowing crossing over.
